Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell has been a chef and television personality in the United States and an instructor at Institute of Culinary Education. She is the host of The Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host with spiky blond locks and a lively persona, shows how to prepare restaurant-style meals in your home with simple techniques. Chef Burrell worked in New York at top restaurants and studied the Italian culinary practices and the landscape. Also, she was a contestant on Iron Chef America on Food Network. As a child in the upstate of New York, Chef Burrell discovered a love for cooking and eating from an early age. The Culinary Institute of America was the next step after she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English as well as Communications in the fall of 2004 from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The student says "I was a huge Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I enjoyed every moment." The Culinary Institute of America was an excellent opportunity to pursue a degree. After graduating, Burrell spent one year in Italy studying in the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and worked in the Umbrian restaurant La Taverna del Lupo as and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, a Michelin-starred restaurant. In Italy, she developed an appreciation for and knowledge of Italian food and culture. This is a huge influence on how Burrell prepares her food. Burrell served as a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to brighten the lives of kids facing problems. She is also an Juvenile Research Foundation celebrity ambassador where she advocates for education about the condition known as juvenile diabetes. Burrell travels extensively across the nation in her capacity as both a mentor and an invited speaker, where she talks about her professional life and the joy of cooking. Anne was always grateful that she was able to share her passion that she had for sharing her cooking skills with other people.
